This unique style of doll making was originated by Manmath Das of Jayanagar–Mojilpur in South 24 Parganas. His artistic legacy continues today through his grandson Sambhunath Das, who keeps this tradition alive by crafting colorful and expressive Mojilpur dolls. These dolls are instantly recognizable by their stretched eyes, expressive postures, and strong connection to Bengal’s village life.
